Press Release:
English Language Proficiency in Young Learners Determines their Educational and Employment Opportunities Internationally
Dubai, 25th November 2014 – Recent trends show that many children are being raised as bilinguals and that learning other languages will help them increase their listening ability, memory, creativity and critical thinking. According to a study from the Cornell Language Acquisition Lab (CLAL), children who learn a second language can maintain attention despite outside stimuli better than children who know only one language.
Further, it has been established that learning other languages facilitates their understanding of other cultures and increases their global awareness, a critical skill in the 21st century. With English considered as the language of international communication and spoken by more than 750 million people around the world, encouraging children to learn English increases their educational opportunities and employment options for the future.
“As children become adults, they will live and work in a society that is considered to be global. In the UAE, it is a known fact that most careers involve working and interacting with individuals from different regions of the world on a regular basis. By learning a second or even a third language, children will grow into adults that are more at ease when communicating with individuals from different cultures,†commented Moaz Khan, Marketing Director at Eton Institute.
