Eton Institute Hosts Football Tournament and Pink Walk to Help Fight Breast Cancer:As part of its Summer For Change initiative, Eton Institute is organising an exclusive event to raise funds and awareness about breast cancer.
Dubai, 12th August 2014 – According to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), breast cancer is one of the most common cases of cancer in the UAE, and early detection of breast cancer saves lives, as it facilitates the treatment with 98% chances of survival. Great efforts have been put into place in the UAE over the past decade to raise awareness about this disease: according to Health Authority Abu Dhabi, 64% of cases were diagnosed at a late stage in 2007, compared to only 16% in 2012, in Abu Dhabi only. Over the past five years, breast-cancer deaths among Emiratis have also decreased by 55%.
Eton Institute, the UAE’s largest language and professional development training provider, is joining the fight this August, through its Summer For Change charitable initiative. In collaboration with Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP), Dubai Sports World and Duplays, Eton Institute is organising a Corporate Football Tournament to raise funds for FOCP and support the charity on its tireless work in helping victims of breast cancer. Alongside this activity, a ‘Pink Walk’ will take place at the event, attempting an unofficial world record, to help spread the word about this cause and encourage every woman to have regular check-ups.
“We want to inspire people to join the fight against breast cancer. Raising awareness can save lives, as it encourages people to practice self-examination or visit their doctor, increasing the chances of early detection,†commented Hana Fuchs, Marketing Director at Eton Institute. “The football tournament aims to raise a considerable amount of funds, through a fee donated by the participating teams. The Pink Walk will take place at the same venue and is open to anyone wishing to attend and join the fight. These two activities are a great way to bring people together and show unity and support for the victims of breast cancer,†she added.
The event will take place at Dubai Sports World at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), on Friday 22nd of August, from 2pm to 6pm.
