Eton Institute to Host a Free Ramadan Etiquette Workshop in Partnership with Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding

Eton Institute in partnership with Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) is organizing a free Ramadan Etiquette Workshop to give attendees an insight into Islamic and Arabic cultures, as well as to create awareness of the essential etiquettes to be followed during the holy month of Ramadan..

Dubai, 17th June 2014 – With Ramadan just around the corner, Muslims around the world are preparing for the daily fasting rituals, traditions and prayers that mark the holy month. For numerous expats residing in the UAE, the month of Ramadan can be very different from what they would have experienced in their home countries. Eton Institute’s free Ramadan Etiquette Workshop is aiming to provide the expat community a greater insight into the Arabic culture, helping expats better understand the significance of Ramadan and the important etiquette to follow in the UAE.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone to gain an insight into the culture and traditions of the holy month. This resourceful workshop will enable the community to be mindful of Ramadan practices and learn more about the Arab heritage and culture.” explained Hana Fuchs, Director of Marketing at Eton Institute.

“For anyone who is new in the country, the Ramadan Etiquette Workshop can demystify any doubts or questions they may have such as; is it acceptable to drink water in public? Why do Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset? etc. At times, we would like to be of assistance and support to our fasting colleagues, however are not sure how to approach them. You will certainly find all the answers you are looking for at the workshop in anticipation of Ramadan” she added.

The workshop in Dubai will be facilitated by Mr. Nasif Kayed, the Managing Director of Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding and will cover topics such as identifying and acknowledging the Arab cultural and spiritual heritage, being familiar with important Arabic expressions and greetings, as well as covering topics such as do’s and don’ts during the month of Ramadan in the UAE and identifying and demonstrating appropriate cultural sensitivity in one’s approach.

The Ramadan Etiquette Workshop in Dubai will be held on 23rd June from 5pm to 7pm at The Auditorium, Block 1 in Dubai Knowledge Village.

In Abu Dhabi, the workshop will be held on 23rd June from 6pm to 8pm at Eton Institute, Park Rotana Office Complex, twofour54, near Khalifa Park.
