1. Take a language course relevant to your needs with native speakers. At Eton Institute, all instructors are qualified and native speakers so this makes learning easier and more authentic.. Therefore, by learning a language which is relevant and meaningful to your life goals, your efforts will serve their purpose and the process will be less challenging.

2. Use your target language in your daily conversation. Don’t be shy to use simple one-word questions or answers to practice the foreign language. The person might respond by using body language or writing it down on paper, but keep in mind that your purpose is to communicate.

3. Interact with natives who can help you enhance your language skills. Subconsciously, you will acquire the new language without having to make any effort just because you are communicating. Find yourself a language parent or buddy. This person should be native and will be honest enough to correct you while learning the language. You will be surprised on how fast you acquire the new skill.

4. Adapt your hearing to new sounds. As our brain has a filter to sound, we automatically become language deaf to unknown sounds and automatically stop ourselves from listening. Expose yourself to the new language you would like to learn by listening to music, watching movies, reading out loud simple advertisements in newspapers/magazines. You can also listen to audio books and repeat what you hear. Surround yourself with people from that culture. Visit restaurants, cafeterias, supermarkets, gym classes, the list is endless! The more we listen to the new language, the more our ears filter the new sounds in, rather than filter the unknown sounds out.

5. Begin physiological training by using and coordinating your face muscles when speaking. Make the sounds for the listener to understand. Copy mouth movement. This step is very important to make the correct sound for the new language.

6. Keep the positive attitude to learn. Psychological state of matter is the last and most important stage to learning a new language. If you are sad, angry or upset, learning can be exhausting. On the other hand, by being confident, cheerful and self-assuring, learning the new language can be an enjoyable experience.

Learning is a fun and memorable experience. Begin your new language course today and start using these six simple steps. You will be surprised with your results!
