18 Sep Learner Spotlight: Mohammed Alahmadi

Meet Mohammed Alahmadi, a bright and ambitious 22-year-old media enthusiast who aspires to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a film director. He shares a glimpse of his life and how learning English helped with his undergraduate studies and day-to-day life.

Hi! My name is Mohammed, I was born and raised in Abu Dhabi. I’m currently finishing my degree in Strategic Mass Communication (I’m hoping this will be my last year!).

I enjoy doing sports and I love films; I work as a freelancer in the media industry. I’ve worked as an assistant director on a number of films and shows, including the new kids show on Majid TV called ‘Kashta’; stay tuned for the episode where we feature a scene at the Eton Institute Abu Dhabi branch!

Bonus Fact: one of my internships was working on the set of the Bollywood movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, which had scenes shot in Abu Dhabi. Yeah, I saw the actor Salman Khan every day!

I heard about Eton Institute from a family member. I feel that learning English at Eton Institute helped me with everything in my daily life and most importantly in getting to University. I finished three English courses and took two IELTS Preparation courses as well.

Learning English definitely had a positive impact on my life, it really helped me succeed in my education. After all, English is the most commonly spoken language in the world.

My English Language Learning Experience

I still recall in the beginning it was a little difficult for me to put a sentence together and memorize new vocabulary. Today, I enjoy reading articles in English and one of my favorite ways to practice my English is listening to music. My English has improved and I made new friends from different backgrounds and cultures. On a different note, the teachers were very cool and friendly with us.

What’s Next?

I’m planning to learn Spanish – I want to be able to speak it fluently. Each year I write my goals down. I actually have a list of goals and only one is left; I hope it will happen.
