Press Release:
Managers Need to Encourage Creativity and Critical Thinking to Generate Innovation, says Eton Institute
Eton Institute is organising free sessions for “Creativity and Critical Thinking Skills in the Workplace” to support HR professionals in generating innovation leading up to Expo 2020 Dubai.
Dubai, 20th February 2014 – The Great Exhibition, held in London in 1851, inaugurated World Expos as the hallmark events of world innovation and cultural connections. The UAE is about to enter yet another phase of significant change and innovation, and companies need to look at their work force and ask, “Are we ready for this creative challenge?”
In today’s professional world, work isn’t as scripted as it used to be and roles are much more fluid, thus encouraging self-initiative and idea generation has become the norm. Creativity and Critical thinking skills are considered to be one of the most important employee skills in the workplace, enabling companies to stay relevant and keep their competitive edge.
According to a recent survey conducted by Adobe, 3 in 4 people don’t feel they are making the most of their creative potential, and only spend 25% of their time at work being creative. Employees often start a job with one expectation and then discover that their role is very specific, finding themselves limited to what they can accomplish. For 65% of all respondents, tools and training are seen as the most important driver for being creative, and 40% of respondents state they do not have the necessary knowledge.
“The true creative potential of a business lies with its employees, the people who know its processes and customers inside out, however, there needs to be the right environment, culture and management support to release this creativity,“commented Yolande Abi Rached, HR Director at Eton Institute. “Highly creative people tend to use a very similar process to identify and implement solutions for potential problems and to generate new products or concepts. They are open to new ideas and different ways of doing things, and this process can be learned!” she added.
Eton Institute’s Creativity and Critical Thinking in the Workplace workshop explores the relationship between creativity and critical thinking skills and helps participants to rethink the way they approach workplace encounters and experience change. Designed as a 2 hour preview session, the workshop overview will allow professionals to pick up top tips for introducing creativity and critical thinking skills into their teams or organisations, from Millennials to senior leadership teams.
The free demo classes are scheduled as follows:
